A trip to North Wales

Just in case you were wondering where I’ve got to, I’m currently on a ‘research’ trip (read ‘holiday’!) to North Wales. Yes, it’s been a relaxing time but I’ve also done a little work on the book, as well as gather some information and check the proposed locations. Its great being able to go on mountain walks and recce the settings at the same time! The weather’s been kind too (apart from yesterday – but that’s when I decided to take the trip to Llanberis and re-visit Dinorwic. Going underground is the best way to escape the rain!)

The biggest problem for me is trying to update the blog and then post to the Internet via the Dongle device which I have installed. Seeing as I’m on the North Wales coast (and they don’t have Wi-Fi at this house!), I have to rely on this ridiculous contraption. It isn’t great! So apologies to anyone out there who might have been keeping up with the progress of Dragon Line – I promise normal service will be resumed as normal! Besides, there are some subjects I’m itching to discuss. For instance, I see today the Government has released a report on the likely future effects of Climate Change on this country. I’ll do a little feature on that once I can actually get properly on-line to study the details.

Tomorrow, it’s back to Llanberis to stay at the Victoria Hotel there. I’m looking forward to this, especially since I’m planning to feature this building, along with the rest of the village, quite extensively in the book. Plus, they might have Wi-Fi there with any luck! All in all, there should be one or two interesting things to include on here in the near future – so watch this space!

Until the next time….

About Owen Law

My pen-name is ‘Owen Law’ (real name: Nicholas Davies.) I’m a science fiction writer specialising in dystopian/apocalyptic visions of the future. I’m from Shropshire, England (on the borders with Wales) and I’m in my forties. I have a background in public services and training. I’ve been working on my first novel, Dragon Line, since 2008. I’ve also written several short stories, one of which you can find on this blog (‘Matilda Leviathan‘). I now reside on the border of Shropshire and Wales, and my interests include writing (of course!), current affairs and environmental issues.
