Character Feature: Tewdur

It's noisy old evening here in Harrow, with the Diwali fireworks going! Just like Guy Fawkes, excellent! So, in between looking out of the window to see the displays, I've decided to find a few minutes to do another character feature. Tonight, I'd like to introduce you to Tewdur, the futuristic Mayor of Llanberis.

In post-apocalyptic Britain, Llanberis survives as a commune based within the territory of the Dragons, supported by energy from the power station and a vibrant local economy. As part of the territory's political set-up (in contrast to the neo-feudal warlords who control many other parts of the island), the commune has a directly-elected Mayor who oversees the civil administration, alongside the Dragon leader Iolo's military command. The Mayor of Llanberis at the time of Patrick's arrival is Tewdur, Llinos' uncle. A mature man with extensive experience and wisdom, Tewdur is a native Welsh-speaker from Llanberis itself, and a great Welsh patriot. As well as having an academic and political background from before the time of the break-down, which gave him extensive credentials for the role, he has also been spiritual leader of a secretive Welsh 'esoteric' society for many years. This society protects an ancient legacy which is pertinent to Patrick's destiny, of which Patrick himself is consequently initially sceptical. Tewdur, knowing of Patrick's identity, is highly enthused by the Englishman's arrival and does his utmost to make him feel welcome.

His enthusiasm both flatters and unnerves Patrick, but all the same the new arrival has his own ideas as to what his future destiny may or may not be. Circumstances change, and a misfortune which befalls all concerned causes a rethink and changing of hearts and minds….

Until the next time….
