Owen's Novel Report – Doh!

Oh dear, I have been up against it! Currently still under the weather and off sick, I've none the less tried to keep my spirits up by doing different things at home. I've written the prologue. And, I tried to do an MP3 today to post here on the Dragon Line blog (as promised last week!) Really, you shouldn't make promises you can't keep! In all honesty, I had a go at recording myself on the Audacity software again. It sounded boring in the least! If I had used that and put it here in the site, then probably I would have driven away everyone who ever takes out the time to read whats going on here for good (and also reduced the chances of anyone ever wanting to read my actual finished novel as well!) So I scrapped it – back to the drawing board!

As for the prologue, well I'm happy – thus far! Except, of course, that it's twenty-one pages long (about 5000 words, if I recall!) I got my partner to read it and guess what she said? 'Bloody hell, goes on a bit doesn't it!'

Well, there we go, but then again, what is the second draft for (and the third one for that matter?) In actual fact, I'm looking forward to taking a hatchet job to some of those lengthy sentences and unnecessary adverbs and adjectives, which often get padded in by first-timers because they think it looks good (bit like this sentence really!) So, I'm not going to feel dejected. Not in the least!

Anyway, at least I can take comfort in the fact that I've not inadvertently left a microphone on my suit lapel when getting into a car after talking to a core voter, then slagging them off and calling them a 'bigot'! Just for it to all get recorded and broadcasted. Now that is dumb! (Not that anybody did that, surely??!)

Until the next time…..and the promised audio!
