Population decline and decreasing Oil production: article recommendation

Another quick article recommendation, yet another cheery subject (oh well, that’s what the novel’s all about I suppose!) This article is about the possible effects on population as a result of peak oil kicking-in. Relevant again to the novel: the Collapse suffered in the back-story involves a major population decline or ‘die-back’. One thing the article points out is that there was a great deal of discussion about ’emergency measures’ during the Cold War. However with a greater emergency on the horizon, no serious consideration has been given to planning an adequate response whatsoever:
