Crude Oil hits $100 a Barrel

The latest news is that crude oil has hit $100 a barrel (first time since October 2008.) In the light of recent rises in demand and current events in the Middle East, this is not surprising.  Apparently, OPEC have stated that there is a low probability of the Suez canal being shut as a result of the current unrest in Egypt but this obviously hasn’t been enough to dissuade the markets (and speculators in particular.)

Is this something we’re going to be seeing more of in future? Interesting times…
