Third Draft of Dragon Line

© TimurD –

Okay, so I’ve been a little absent from here recently – apologies if you do follow what’s going on with the novel regularly. You might have wondered what has happened to me!

Well, I have some good news to relate. Yesterday, I completed the third draft of the novel. This was as a result of the marvellous guidance of Jurgen Wolff during his Massive Action Day. Basically, you can sign-up to the event and use it to focus on whatever project you need to work on or complete during the course of the day (and it’s not just for writers – anyone can participate!) After you’ve signed-up (it’s free!), you then log onto a UStream channel set-up especially for the event. Here, Jurgen runs a five-minute online review with some helpful motivational tips – and also awards some prizes to people who have been doing particularly well. Once he has finished talking, you then have 55 minutes to work on your project before listening to the next broadcast on the top of the hour.

Jurgen usually runs these from 9 am (BST) till 2 am in the morning, so that people from different time zones can benefit (it must be really tiring for him, though! I wonder if he’s still sleeping even now?) However, he does a really great job and it certainly feels very much like a party atmosphere. There’s also a live chat facility, so you can still contribute to the discussion with the other participants whilst working. I was careful, obviously, not to let it distract me too much from my task but it was fun to talk, all the same. You are also encouraged to use this to state what goal you have achieved and what you intend to do for the next hour.

I’m not sure when Jurgen will run the next one (I can’t imagine there’ll be too many or he’ll burn himself out, poor chap!) However, if you are interested in the meantime, here’s the link to find out about what MAD is all about:

Massive Action Day

As for my third draft, I started at 9 am in the morning and kept going till about 9 pm till I finished all the remaining chapters (despite a few breaks for meals, set-backs like the computer slowing up etc, I reckon that was pretty good going!) The only thing I anticipate doing now is the post-script and a few tweaks re the military stuff in the novel. I’m actually speaking to someone who’s an expert on the subject at present and he has suggested a few modifications. However, broadly speaking the novel is done! Publishing deal this year? We shall see (I’m first time after all!) Maybe back on Authonomy? Watch this space!

Until the next time…

P.S. Unfortunately, the video in the post below has been withdrawn – bummer! Never mind, there are some more good vids lined up for here soon…
