Location Feature Special – Llyn Dinas

A bit of change again from the doom, gloom, peak oil, climate change, mad rantings of Colonel Gaddafi (??!)

Here’s a nice scene to take your mind off it all. Llyn Dinas at Beddgelert, just below Dinas Emrys where the opening scenes of the novel take place. The latter is where Llew is seen to be preparing himself for his initiation during the ‘calm before the storm’. The landscape in this part of the world is indeed breath-taking at times and I hope that the description captures the spirit of this place. In fact, as an added extra check out the panoramic view of the Snowdon hills taken from Nantmor above Beddgelert and the lake. Fortunately, we had a glorious day for the filming. Maybe you can judge from this as to whether I’m near the mark? (Check out the prologue here.)

This area is well worth a visit. There’s quite a lot to do in Beddgelert, there’s the Sygun copper mine nearby and, of course, you can climb Snowdon itself.

Enjoy!
